In order to connect up to your ADSL internet service your ADSL modem must be configured correctly. Find general details below for configuring your ADSL modem.
1. Configuring your computer to automatically obtain network settings.
Windows XP
- Open the Control Panel (Start Button > Control Panel).
- Click on Network and Internet Connect.
- Under the "or Pick a Control Panel icon" heading click on Network Connections.
- Double Click on the icon labeled Local Area Connection.
- Click on the Properties button.
- In the "this connection uses the following items" box scroll down to Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and left click to highlight it. (Ensure that the tick stays in the tick box) Once highlighted click on the Properties button.
- Ensure that "Obtain an IP address automatically" is selected and also that "Obtain DNS server address automatically" is selected.
- Click the OK button to close out of Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties page.
- Click the OK\Close button to close out of Local Area Connection Properties page.
- Click the Close button to close out of Local Area Connection Status page.
- Close all other opened windows.

Windows Vista
- Open the Control Panel (Start Button > Control Panel).
- Click on Network and Internet.
- Click Network and Sharing Center.
- Under the Tasks list to the left clickon Manage network connections.
- On the Network connections screen double click to open Local Area Network.
- Click on the Properties button.
- In the "this connection uses the following items" box scroll down to Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IP) and left click to highlight it. (Ensure that the tick stays in the tick box) Once highlighted click on the Properties button.
- Ensure that "Obtain an IP address automatically" is selected and also that "Obtain DNS server address automatically" is selected.
- Click the OK button to close out of Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties page.
- Click the OK\Close button to close out of Local Area Connection Properties page.
- Click the Close button to close out of Local Area Connection Status page.
- Close all other opened windows.

2. Setting your modem to connect to VoIPex.
The configuration options on modems vary from make to make and model to model. The information that should be common to all modems to ensure the modem will connect to your VoIPex ADSL service is as follows:
Username Format: username@voipex.com.au
VPI: 8
VCI: 35
Encapsulation: PPPoE
Multiplex: LLC
